The Queen of England, Elizabeth Tudor, is on progress searching throughout the realm for a champion. This champion must embody all of the chivalric ideas, honesty, bravery, courage, wit, honor and intellect. All subjects may try, from the highest born lord to the lowest base peasant, to win the right to be the Champion of England. Many small contests will pit the contestants against each other testing both their skill and wits. The main contest will be a human chess match where living chess pieces battle for each square and have the chance to oust their competitors. All must do their best to impress the Queen for she alone will be the finale judge; in this Tournament of Champions.
Queens Court: The Queen will arrive in procession and will announce her tournament. The King of Arms will then call all who wish to compete to come forward to state their name and purpose for competing. The Queen will then announce and describe the nature of the chess match and the time of competition.
Chess Match: A living chess match where the pieces on the board are people. To win a square the pieces must battle. The Queen will select a challenge all will witness the out come. The last two remains contestants will finish the tournament from horse back in a joust, which is announced at the end of the chess match.
The Horseback Joust and Full Armor Combat: Now the last two champions will compete in the most chivalric means the renaissance had to offer, mounted combat. The two finale competitors will now fight with bravery and wit for the prize, and for the honor of their most beloved Queen. The tournament will end with the thunder of hooves and the clash of splintering lances.
Finale and Song: The queen will now announce who has won the right to be England’s champion. We then end the day with a singing celebration for all.
